Acid-Base Balance Test - Chloride Test

Chloride (Cl-) analysis measures the concentration of this major anion (negative ion) in extracellular fluid and blood serum. Chloride works closely with sodium to maintain osmotic balance and water distribution in the body. It also plays a crucial role in maintaining acid-base balance (as part of the bicarbonate/chloride system) and in digestion (as a component of gastric acid). Its level is primarily regulated by the kidneys.
