Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) Test

The alkaline phosphatase (ALP) blood test measures the level of an enzyme found primarily in liver and bone cells, and in smaller amounts in the kidneys and intestines. It is mainly used to help diagnose liver or bone diseases, as its level rises when there is damage to the cells that produce it or in cases of bile duct obstruction.
