Alcian Blue Special Stain

Alchyan blue is a basic stain used in histopathology to stain and highlight acidic mucopolysaccharides (such as sialic acid and hyaluronic acid) found in mucus (mucins), cartilage, and connective tissue matrix. The stain binds to the acidic groups in these compounds, giving them a characteristic blue color, which helps distinguish them from other components in a tissue slide.
