Blood Selenium Level Test

This analysis measures the concentration of selenium (Se) in blood serum or plasma. Selenium is an essential trace element that acts as a vital cofactor for many antioxidant enzymes (such as glutathione peroxidase) and enzymes involved in thyroid hormone metabolism (diodinase). The current blood level (not long-term stores) reflects the adequacy of dietary intake or detects deficiencies or toxicity.
