A qualitative molecular test with high sensitivity and specificity (using PCR technique) to detect the presence of DNA of high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) types (such as types 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 68) in a cervical swab sample. This test is considered more accurate than cytological tests (Pap smear) for early detection of women at risk of cervical cancer.
