Urine Oxalate Test for Stone Prevention - Urine Oxalic Acid (Oxalate) Test

This test measures the amount of oxalic acid excreted in the urine over a 24-hour period. Oxalate is a naturally occurring compound formed from the metabolism of certain foods (such as spinach) and in the body. It cannot be broken down by the body and is therefore eliminated by the kidneys. High levels increase the likelihood of forming calcium oxalate crystals, the primary component of most kidney stones.
