The Food Allergy Packet (38 types) is an immunological test that determines the serum level of immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies specific to common food allergens. The immune response is measured for each allergen individually. Elevated levels of IgE specific for a particular food indicate an allergy to that food. This pack is used to detect IgE-mediated (immediate) allergies, not food intolerances or delayed (cell-mediated) allergies.
