Immunohistochemical (IHC) assays reveal the expression of SALL4 (Sal-Like Protein 4), a nuclear transcription factor essential for maintaining the self-renewal capacity of embryonic stem cells. SALL4 expression is an important histological marker for primary germ cells and germ cell tumors (GCTs). It is primarily used to diagnose and differentiate germ cell tumors (such as seminoma, yolk sac tumor, teratoma) from other tumors, as well as in the diagnosis of certain hematological malignancies, such as acute myeloid leukemia (AML) of specific subtypes.
