Total Bilirubin Test

A total serum bilirubin test measures the total amount of bilirubin in the blood, a yellow pigment produced by the breakdown of hemoglobin from old red blood cells. It is primarily used to evaluate and monitor jaundice, and to diagnose liver disorders (such as inflammation or cirrhosis), bile duct disorders, or hemolytic blood disorders.
