High-sensitivity quantitative test (hs-CRP or CRP quantitative) measures the concentration of C-reactive protein (CRP) in blood serum with precision. CRP is an acute-phase protein produced by the liver in response to inflammatory signals (cytokines such as interleukin-6). Its level rises rapidly (within 6–12 hours) from the onset of inflammation or tissue necrosis, peaking within 48 hours. Quantitative measurement is used to assess the severity of inflammation and monitor the effectiveness of treatment.
