Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) screening is an immunoseriologic test that detects the presence of autoantibodies directed against enzymes found in the cytoplasmic granules of neutrophils (a type of white blood cell). The test is typically performed using immunosorbent assay (IFA) on neutrophils and can reveal two main types: cytoplasmic (c-ANCA) and perinuclear (p-ANCA). The presence and nature of these antibodies are closely associated with a range of rare autoimmune inflammatory vascular diseases.
